Waypoint58 is a free web directory organised as a gazetteer of the open internet. The name reflects the project's intent: to chart coordinates across the web in the way a geographical reference work charts locations on a map — methodically, without editorial opinion on relative importance.
The register is divided into twenty-two territories, each covering a distinct class of website. Territories range from the broad — the General Territory, which files sites that resist narrow classification — to the specific, such as the Dental & Oral Health District or the Print & Labels District. Each territory is a named coordinate in the Waypoint58 index.
Sites are added to the register after a submission and review process. Waypoint58 does not charge for listing and does not sell priority placement. The order in which sites appear within a territory reflects the order in which they were reviewed and filed, not a ranking of commercial merit or audience size.
The current register holds 829 sites across all twenty-two territories. Submissions are open to site owners, publishers, and operators whose sites fall within any of the covered territories. A submission form is available at the filing page; editors review each entry before it is added to the index.
Waypoint58 is maintained as a reference work, not a search engine or content aggregator. It does not crawl sites or store content. It records waypoints — the domain, name, and a brief description — so that browsers can locate services and platforms in a territory of interest without relying on algorithm-driven results.
